Application Instructions -------------------------- 1.About Super Robot Wars 3 -------------------------- Super Robot Wars 3 ("SRW3") is a strategy/RPG in the same basic vein as Shining Force, just with slightly more strategy and slightly less RPG. It features a conglomeration of mecha from a variety of anime series, as well as a few unique original creations to tie the stories together. The series contained in SRW3 are: Gundam 0079, Char's Counterattack, Gundam 0080, Gundam 0083, Z Gundam, ZZ Gundam, Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, UFO Robo Grendizer, Yuusha Raideen, Getta Robo, Daitarn 3, Choudenji Robo ComBattler V, and the Masoukishin originals. --------------- 2.Patch History --------------- Work started on SRW3 waaaaaay back in June of Y2K. Akujin dumped the script, translated much of it, and returned it; by the following winter, things were very much looking up. A few snags were hit, though - mainly in the combat dialogue, the chapter titles, and the compressed graphics (such as the title screen.) With the help of others, and with my own steadily increasing romhacking skills, the patch was finally completed to the point you see here. December 25, 2002 - Initial version 1.00 Release ---------- 3.Features ---------- -300 kilobytes of English script! -An extra 512K of blank space was tacked onto the end of the ROM to accomodate the new script, and the method that the game uses to find its text was reprogrammed so as to make full use of this new space. -Expanded quick-status and unit select windows during missions! --------------- 4.Patch Credits --------------- THE SUPER ROBOT WARS 3 TEAM Main Team: Gideon Zhi - Project leader, romhacker Akujin - Translator Special Thanks, in no particular order: Klarth, LordTech, Dark Force, Jair, Anus P, the MO Board Crowd, Bongo`, Neill Corlett, Taskforce, Nightcrawler, BMF54123 -------------- 5.Known Issues -------------- -Some unit, attack, and character names are too long for their windows. Nothing can be done about this at this point, but it shouldn't be overly obtrusive and should not impact on your enjoyment of the game. This may or may not be fixed at some point in the future... -Some of the stage names will probably only partially display on a copier. This is due to the SNES' sprite display limitations as well as my own initial lack of understanding of the game's graphic displays. This may or may not be fixed at some point in the future... -The character/unit scrollbyes in the ending sequence don't always display 100% correctly if a unit or character name is too long for its window. There is currently nothing I can do about this. -------------------------- 6.Application Instructions -------------------------- If using SNES9X, make sure that the patch has the same name as your ROM. In other words, if your ROM is called "srw3.smc" make sure the patch is "srw3.ips" okay? If you're using a Mac, a Mac IPS patcher is available. Check the AGTP Links page. If you're using a copier, you probably already know how to patch the ROM :) Be sure to apply the patch to a clean copy of the ROM, and make sure your ROM HAS a header. If you right-click the ROM and select Properties, it should read "Size: 1.50MB (1,573,376 bytes)". SNESTool will add all of your headers for you easily, and you can find it at http://rpgd.emulationworld.com In the utilities section, click on the IPS Tools link. The answers to the questions it asks you do not matter unless you're using a copier to play the game.
